Kitchen Remodeling in Knoxville, TN
A kitchen is the hardest room to get right. It has to work for the way you actually cook and it has to keep working years from now.
Gold's Carpentry handles kitchen renovations in Knoxville from the first conversation through the last piece of trim. This includes the parts most people don't think about until they're standing in a torn-up room: where the plumbing actually runs, whether that wall is structural or not, and how you'll actually live in your home while the project is happening.
We came up as finish carpenters, which shapes how we build a kitchen. The cabinetry, the trim, the way a run of cabinets meets an out-of-square wall in a house built in the 1940s. All of these details are handled by our own crew, not a subcontractor we're waiting on.

Why Choose Us
You Keep Your Kitchen As Long As Possible
We sequence the work so you're without a kitchen for the shortest stretch we can manage, and we tell you before demolition exactly how long that will be.
We Build For The House You Actually Have
Knoxville has a lot of older homes, and older homes are rarely square, level, or plumb. A cabinet run that looks perfect in a drawing can leave a tapering gap along one wall. We plan for that up front instead of discovering it on install day.
The Carpentry Is Ours
Most General Contractors sub out finish work, which means the schedule bends around somebody else's calendar and the quality varies with whoever shows up. Our carpenters work for us. When the cabinets are ready to go in, we're there.
Our Process
How a Kitchen Remodel Runs
01
First Conversation

You call or write, and we get back to you within one business day. We'll ask enough on the phone to know whether it's worth a visit.
02
On-Site Visit

We look at the space, talk through what you want, and flag anything structural or mechanical that might shape the plan. Bring pictures or kitchens you like. They tell us more than adjectives do.
03
Estimate

Back to you in 5-7 business days, broken out so you can see where the money goes. To be clear about what this is: a written estimate, not a rendering or a design package.
04
Selections & Scheduling

We work through cabinetry, tile, countertops and finishes, then set a start date and tell you how long you'll be without the room.
05
The Build

Floors protected, dust contained, and you know what's happening each week. Decisions come to you at whatever level of detail you want them.

Timeline & Investment
Most of the kitchens we build in Knoxville run between $20,000 and $80,000, depending on size, whether the layout changes, and how far the finishes go. A refresh that keeps the existing footprint sits at the lower end; moving walls, plumbing, or windows move it up.
Most kitchens take 4–8 weeks, from demolition to finish, and we'll give you a real number for your project before we start rather than a range.
Kitchen Remodeling Questions We Get A Lot
How long does a typical kitchen remodel take?
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Knoxville?
Most kitchens take 4-8 weeks from demolition to the final walkthrough. A refresh that keeps the existing layout is faster; moving walls, plumbing or windows adds time, and custom cabinetry has a lead time of its own. We give you a real schedule before we start, not a range.
Most of the kitchens we build run between $20,000 and $80,000. The biggest factors are size, whether the layout changes, and how far the finishes go. We can't give you an accurate number without seeing the space — but we can tell you on the phone whether your budget and your plan are in the same neighborhood!
Can I stay in my house during the remodel?
Do I need a designer, or can you handle the layout?
Almost always, yes. You'll be without a kitchen for part of the project, so most clients set up a temporary spot with a microwave and a coffeemaker somewhere else in the home. We'll tell you exactly how long that stretch will be before demolition starts, and we contain dust so the rest of the house stays livable.
For most kitchens we can handle the layout ourselves — that's a normal part of what we do. If your project is complex enough to need architectural drawings or a dedicated designer, we'll tell you that early and can point you to people in town we've worked with.
Do you build custom cabinets or install stock?
Do you handle permits and inspections?
More often than not, we partner with a local supplier for our cabinets. This keeps the cost affordable and allows us to have predictable results. Through this supplier, we can do everything from stock to fully custom. Our partner even offers free in-house design services.
Yes. We're a licensed general contractor in Tennessee, and we pull the permits and schedule the inspections as part of the job. You don't deal with the county.
Can you move walls, plumbing, or electrical?
What if you find something unexpected behind the walls?
Yes. We do structural work ourselves and coordinate the licensed electricians and plumbers on our jobs. If a wall is load-bearing we'll tell you what it takes to remove it before you get attached to the idea.
In an older Knoxville home, we usually do — old wiring, a surprise vent, a floor that isn't level. We bring it to you with what it means for cost and schedule before we do anything abou tit. You will not find out about a change order after the fact.
Do you warranty your work?
How do we get started?
Yes, we offer a 5 year craftsman warranty which covers defective workmanship and products. We stand behind our work.
Call us or send us a message with a rough ideas of what you're thinking. We'll get back to you within one business day, and if it looks like a fit we'll set a time to come look at the space.
